Who We Work With
If you’re a large fashion brand looking for bespoke products, our Fashion Retailer Manager Phil Twite is the ideal person to help.
‘If you’re making a large investment in a new clothing range or shop design, it’s critical that all aspects of your visual merchandising contribute effectively. My job is to ensure that your coat hangers play their part in the enterprise.
With a huge range of wooden and premium boutique plastic hangers in the UK, we can often do that from existing stock, personalised with logo printing in the UK. The advantages of this approach are shorter lead times and lower minimum order quantities. This opens up bespoke options to relatively small retailers, as well as all those in a hurry!
But if you need something more bespoke, we also have a global network of suppliers ready to swing into action. ‘Bespoke’ can mean adaptions of existing ranges – for instance by changing colour, hooks or metalwork, or adding features like trouser bars or non-slip grips. Or it could mean totally new designs.
If you send us a sample, image or spec we will liaise with our suppliers, usually in the hanger manufacturing heartlands of China. We’ll develop the concept with you through computerised mock-ups and then getting samples from suppliers. We normally start with 3 different potential suppliers, to ensure we can get the best possible price for you.
Once the design has been signed off, it usually takes around 12 weeks from placing the order to the hangers arriving in the UK. If time is very tight, we also source bespoke hangers from Europe though at higher cost.
That’s the whole process in a nutshell. Except to add that sometimes bespoke hangers are so beautiful we can’t resist adding them to our stock ranges – which has the added benefit for the original customer of making re-ordering quicker.’Learn more about our bespoke hangers
Jak Wallis is the printing expert on our Account Management Team.
‘Our in-house print room is one of our unique selling points at CDC. Printing hangers with your logo makes your brand stand out and is a great form of subliminal advertising that shoppers can’t avoid seeing.
Being able to print hangers on-site means we can turn jobs around much more quickly and can take on smaller orders than if we depended on external suppliers. For instance, we can accommodate a large fashion brand that needs a small run of hangers for a trade show or exhibition, as well as supporting a wider range of customers of all sizes.
When we get an enquiry, we produce a computerised mock-up to show your specific logo on your preferred hanger. This helps to make sure that the colour and sizing are exactly what you want. We also have a library of printed hanger samples that we can send to customers to show them the possibilities.
Once the details are agreed and the printing plate is made, we will print samples and send them to you for approval (or send photos if you prefer). Although the logo design and size are fixed, the positioning and even the colour can usually be adjusted. Again, having the print room in-house makes this so much easier than using an external printer – we just go downstairs and talk to the print team!
When the customer has plenty of time and a large enough order, we can still arrange for printing by the hanger manufacturer – that’s usually the cheapest option. But having the print room on-site increases the options we can offer and takes the pressure off our customers, so they don’t have to plan so far ahead to access the benefits of printed hangers.’Learn more about our printed hangers
Our MD Phil Curry manages our largest account as well as setting the strategic direction of the company.
’Celebrating 30 years of supporting fashion retailers is a key milestone. It demonstrates to customers and potential customers alike that we mean business and can be trusted to take care with theirs.
But it also reminds that we need to keep changing and developing if we are to stay at the cutting edge. For instance, our global supply network needs to be maintained and developed if we are to keep getting best value for our customers and bring new products on-line.
Even in this globally interconnected age, it’s still crucial to visit suppliers regularly. This helps to pick up subtle changes in the supply landscape before they start to impact. It also helps us to add new products and new trustworthy suppliers to our portfolio. Trade events such as the Canton Fair and EuroShop are also useful ways of extending and renewing our supplier base.
At CDC, we’re determined to continue to change and develop in line with our customers’ needs and business goals over the next 30 years as well, to ensure that we’re still adding value for our customers well into the future.’talk to an expert about our volume discounts
Range Of Customers
Jo Luxon is our Sales Office Manager as well as managing large number of accounts.
‘We have a huge range and variety of customers at CDC, so it’s always an interesting place to work! Making sure we get it right for each is the challenge, but also the motivation.
The range extends from international corporates, who may require thousands of hangers to be printed and shipped across the world, to very much smaller customers, who order less frequently so depend on us to remember the details of earlier orders. Our specialist printing service attracts people who are setting up a boutique for the first time and therefore value advice and discussion, as well as re-sellers, where we need to meet both their expectations and their customers’.
Fortunately, the range of our customers is matched by the range of our stock. We keep an exceptionally large stock of wooden, plastic, metal and satin padded hangers (as well as many other display products) in our UK distribution centre, so we’re used to helping out busy, pressured customers for whom same day despatch is absolutely critical.
Although we’re passionate about our products, we’re well aware that people don’t go into fashion retailing due to a love of coat hangers! That’s the bit we can supply, with helpful advice, wide stock range, fast delivery options and above all excellent customer focus. Taking some of the strain from our customers is what we’re here to do.’talk to an expert about how we can help you
